A Course in Miracles is a spiritual masterwork of great power and beauty, a unique and profound mind-science of enlightenment designed to awaken the human mind; the sleeping Son of God. Its sole purpose is to restore to awareness the power and glory of the Self created in and by God in everlasting holiness and peace. It aims to save time in the inevitable Self-realization of the Eternal Truth. It trains the individual consciousness to accept the Guide who transforms perception and leads to direct knowledge of the Mind of Christ and reunion with the Creator.
The Course is founded upon the learning of the meaning of True Forgiveness as a means to restore to mind the perfect Love of God. True Forgiveness, in essence, constitutes the reversal of an individual’s cause and effect relationship with the world of perception. It teaches that the cause of all phenomena, our perceptions, our feelings and everything we experience in the world is not outside ourselves but arises in the mind of the perceiver. In this realization lies the complete release from the illusion of the false self-image in separation from God and all things.
The way to God is through forgiveness here. There is no other way. …… Here we can but dream. But we can dream we have forgiven him in whom all sin remains impossible, and it is this we choose to dream today. God is our goal; forgiveness is the means by which our minds return to Him at last.
Through your forgiveness does the truth about yourself return to your memory. Therefore, in your forgiveness lies your salvation.
As an illuminate mind-training programme, A Course in Miracles presents an individual curriculum, a ‘required course’ for removing ‘the obstacles to the awareness of Love’s presence’ and the acceptance of the Peace of God as the fundamental changeless state.
Forget not that the motivation for this course is the attainment and the keeping of the state of peace. Given this state the mind is quiet, and the condition in which God is remembered is attained.
The singularity of the instructional directive of its simple lessons of healing and forgiveness resolve the wordly paradox inherent in the existential human experience between love and fear. Expressed here from the Introduction to the Text:-
The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite. This Course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.
